LMP Motor Rules

   
 

Note: Le Mans Prototype motor setup specifications and GT-12 motor setup specifications are identical.

Approved Motors:

  • Must use current commercially available c-can motors with Group 11 armatures made by:
    • Mura Wasp, Super wasp, Challenger II
    • RJR Hornet, sportsman I or II
    • Fast Ones Contender
    • Pro Slot Contender
  • All Mura, RJR, ProSlot, Kelly, RJR, Koford and Camen cans including light are allowed
  • Twister set-ups are allowed.
  • Armatures:
    • Allowable diameter is a Minimum of .510 and a maximum of .540
    • All armatures must have a tag
    • Minimum stack length .350

Allowed Motor Modifications:

  • May shim, hone and epoxy magnets.
  • SMQ, Kelly and Camen magnets are allowed
  • May mix or match components from any of the approved manufacturers listed above in any combination
  • May change spring cup to accommodate any spring.
  • May change motor brushes
  • May use ball bearings in the can

Disallowed Motor Modifications:

  • No Feather or strap cans allowed
  • No Super 16C armatures allowed
  • No shunts are allowed
  • No spring insulation is allowed
