LMP Axle, Wheel and Gear Rules

   
 

Approved Axles, Wheels and Gears:

  • Rear axle may be 3/32” or 1/8” diameter
  • May use 48, 64, 72, or 80 pitch gears (plastic or metal OK)
  • Front axle must be a minimum of .055” to a maximum diameter of .063”
  • Front wheel minimum diameter of ½” and must rotate freely on axle
  • Rear wheels must have a maximum width of .810"
  • Rear axle width not to exceed 3.25" inclusive of all tire material

Allowed Axle, Wheel and Gear Modifications:

  • May solder front axle where it passes through chassis uprights only. All other points of attachment are prohibited.
  • May solder front wheel retainers to axle or chassis
  • For flat tracks cars must tech to .032” clearance under rear of car including gear
    • Exception, Fresno race will be run only on a banked track and MUST tech to .063"
  • Any current, commercially available black rear tire, maximum wheel width .810”.

Disllowed Axle, Wheel and Gear Modifications:

  • No all rubber fronts tires allowed
  • No axle tubes allowed front or rear
  • No hollow axles front or rear allowed
