NASCAR Motor Rules

   
 

 

  • NASCAR Amateur racers :
    • May use JK Products 3020 Series of Falcon Motors.
      • All 3020 Series Falcon Motors are legal.
      • The latest in the series is Model 30207 called the Falcon 7. All other Falcon motors are legal
    • May use D-Can Motors

Approved Motors:

  • Must use current, commercially available balanced “American made” 16-D motor from any manufacturer
  • Parma Rotor, Parma Death star, Proslot FX, and Trinity twister, Kelly G-2 and Camen set-ups are allowed
  • May use Bruiser or Big Bruiser armatures
  • All armatures must have a tag
  • Allowable diameter is a minimum of .513 and a maximum of .560
  • May run any air gap Minimum Air Gap between magnets .575”.
  • Minimum stack length .600”

Note: Of the ProSlot prebuilt motors, only model PS-2107 with the PS-706 16D Balanced Armature is approved for NorCal SCRA.

Allowed Motor Modifications:

  • May glue magnets with superglue or Locktite only or Epoxy. No JB Weld allowed.
  • May mix or match components from any of the legal manufacturers in any combination
  • May change spring cup to accommodate any spring.
  • May change motor brushes
  • May use ball bearings in the can
  • May hone magnets No shimming or honing of magnets allowed

 Disallowed Motor Modifications:

  • No major design modifications to motor components including cutting of the can, except to clear rear axle.
  • No shunts are allowed
  • No spring insulation is allowed
